VUKAS NAMED OUA EAST ROOKIE OF THE YEAR; TWO BLUES NAMED ALL-STARS

A trio of Varsity Blues have been honoured this week, as Ontario University Athletics announced their 2022 men's soccer major award winners and all-stars.

On Thursday afternoon, Tadiji Vukas was named the OUA East rookie of the year, while both Shon Siegelwachs and Anthony White were named OUA East second team all-stars.

Named the first Blue to win the rookie of the year since Yousef Helmy in 2015, Vukas was a consistent cog in the middle of the field for head coach Ilya Orlov. Starting in 10 regular season and one playoff game, the electrical engineering major proved to be one of the Blues best players, while patrolling the central midfield.

Playing in his second season, Siegelwachs, a social science major, played in every game in 2022, starting in 11 of 12 regular season contests and in the team's lone playoff game. During the regular season, the midfielder found the back of the net twice, scoring against RMC and Queen's.

Also, in his second year with the Blues, White earned his first conference all-star honour. The second-year defender from Port Moody, B.C., White started in all 11 regular season games that he appeared in, as well as one playoff game. Serving as a crucial piece for the Blues backline, White helped anchor a Toronto defence that only surrendered eight regular season goals, which tied for fourth best in the OUA.
