The Varsity Blues kicked off their reading week the right way. In dominating fashion, the Blues won all three of their OUA games, cementing their position atop their OUA bracket with a perfect season, both at home and on the road.
Friday marked the first of three games for the Varsity Blues, when they went up against Western. In what was their third match-up with Western, the Blues made it a perfect three for three, going on to win comfortably by 20 points.
Continuing their weekend of play of Saturday, the Varsity Blues found themselves in arguably their two toughest OUA games of the season. Early in the afternoon, a Blues squad on a mission, entered the Athletic Centre to play a Carleton side that has showcased tremendous ability over the past few years. However, despite the strides taken in the Raven's program, Toronto was ready. With the vocal support from their faithful fans including alumni of the program, the Blues put forth a near flawless performance going on to win 18-5 despite being without their captain, Diego Gonzalez.
Later that same evening, the Blues were faced with their final game of the OUA home and away season, against an Ottawa Gee-Gees squad, whose ability to work as a team always makes them a dangerous opponent. Although the Blues had played a game the night before, and another one only hours prior, they finished off the home and away portion of the OUA season with a perfect record. Throughout the game, Toronto managed to keep separation between themselves and Ottawa, ultimately going on to win 16-7.
While that marks the end of the home and away OUA season, the men's water polo team will now head to Hamilton to play in the regional finals on the 27th of November. In a round robin format, the Blues will battle both the McMaster Marauders and Western Mustangs at the qualifier. The winner will then advance to the OUA finals on December 4
th. Feeling good about their performances throughout 2021, the defending champions will be full of confidence when playoffs get underway.
