BLUES ADD STINGERS TRANSFER BEAUCHAMP

The University of Toronto men's hockey program is pleased to announce that 5-foot-11, 202-pound forward Anthony Beauchamp has accepted his offer of admission and committed to playing for the Varsity Blues.

The native of Thurso, Que., joins the Blues after two seasons with the Concordia Stingers and will hit the ice in the 2021-22 season.

As a member of the Stingers, Beauchamp tallied five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 37 games, while also adding five points in the 2019-20 post season, including the overtime winner in Game 2 of the OUA East quarter-finals.

"Anthony's greatest asset is his skating," said Varsity Blues head coach Ryan Medel. "He's extremely quick and strong on his skates. He's capable of producing offensively but still plays responsibly in the other zones of the ice. He also has a professional mindset in how he approaches different aspects of the game, including his practice habits and his conditioning. He's going to fit in well with our group."

Prior to Concordia, Beauchamp finished four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Gatineau Olympiques, racking up 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 65 regular season games. Overall, Beauchamp totaled 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points in 152 games in the QMJHL.

Beauchamp is an active member of the community. He partnered with the Alzheimer's Society of Canada in honour of his late grandfather.

"I realized that the opportunity to come here and be a part of such an historic and prestigious program was a once in a lifetime experience," said Beauchamp. "Even though I won't be able to play next season, I can't wait to get things started next fall. I feel all the excitement around the Varsity Blues program and I really want to be a part of a winning team."

He will begin his studies in life sciences this fall.
