The University of Toronto Varsity Blues family is mourning the loss of former Varsity Blues men's hockey head coach Bill Purcell.

Purcell led the Blues to an undefeated (18-0-4) regular season and the 1981-82 OUAA Championship in a thrilling come-from-behind overtime victory against Guelph in the Queen's Cup final. His legacy season remains a proud chapter in our program's history. His leadership, passion for the game, and impact on our student-athletes will not be forgotten.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, former players, and all who were part of the Varsity Blues community.
