BLUES HEAD TO OUA FINALS

FULL RESULTS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues Badminton defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees 7-1 in the semifinals of the 2020 OUA championship. The host Blues advance to the finals which will take place tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Athletic Centre.

With Toronto earning a bye to the semifinals after completing pool play yesterday, the four-time reigning champions looked to booked their ticket to the finals once again. They came up against the Ottawa Gee-Gees, were coming off of a win over the McMaster Marauders in the morning.

Second-year Michael Farrell dropped the Blues first match but Toronto was flawless after that. Last year's most valuable player, Jonathan Lai, defeated his singles opponent and teamed up with Samson Chan to win men's doubles as well, both in straight sets.

Four-time OUA female player of the year, Bethany So, cruised through her competition, also winning in straight sets and solidifying the Blues berth to the gold medal match.
