The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's rugby team recorded their first home win of the season as they beat the Waterloo Warriors 45-7 on Sunday, September 29.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Nicole Butkovic scored the opening try of the game, as the Blues raced into an early lead. Waterloo then leveled the score in the 18th minute, before Khadi Dako put the Blues back in front 10 minutes later.
After the break, Lauren Van Dyke extended the lead for the Blues, in what would be the first of five Toronto tries in the second half.
Van Dyke scored her second of the game in the 62nd minute to make the score 28-7.
Dako then stole the show with two sensational runs to score her second and third tries of the game, putting the match well out of Waterloo's reach.
Francesca Griffin added another try in the last minute of the game, sealing an impressive second half performance from the Blues.
