GAMES OF THE WEEK: SOCCER BATTLES RIDGEBACKS FRIDAY NIGHT

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's and women's soccer teams host the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks under the lights this Friday, September 13 at Varsity Stadium.

The women start the action at 6 p.m., with the men to follow at 8:15 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Toronto's men are a perfect 3-0 to start the season after two victories over Queen's and one over RMC. The Blues offence has been by committee as veterans Koosha Nazemi and Nicholas Osorio, as well as rookie striker Matthew Roberts all lead the team with two goals in the early goings of the season.

Stefan Dusciuc and Sebastian Sgarbossa have split duties in goal, allowing only one and two goals against, respectively.

The Blues women are coming off an impressive weekend, which saw them tie the No. 1 nationally ranked and U SPORTS defending champion Ottawa Gee-Gees, 1-1. They also came-from-behind to draw the Queen's Gaels 2-2.

The Blues early 1-1-2 record is not indicative of their strength as they look to earn six points at home this weekend.

Third-year UAlbany transfer Miranda Badovinac currently co-leads the OUA with six goals in four games, while fifth-year striker Jenny Wolever, who transferred to the Blues from the Queen's Gales, has two goals and three assists so far this season.

Toronto's women also have great depth in net as Levanna Staggolis and Stephania Turyk have combined for a .810 save percentage over five games so far this season.
