The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's squash team took home the bronze medal at the 2019 OUA championships (Feb 8-10) at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.
Toronto came away with four wins in their fixtures to go 26-16 overall and picked up the team's fifth medal in last six OUA championships. Sophomore Rhea Dhar was the top player for the Varsity Blues throughout the weekend. She went 4-2 in her matches, which led to being named an OUA All-Star for the first time in her young career.
The Blues went 1-1 on Day 1, defeating McMaster 5-2 and falling 5-2 to Western. In the No. 2Â position, Juana Chaves came from a 1-2 deficit to win the match against her opponent Catherin Giachino of the Western Mustangs.
U of T bounce back on Saturday taking down both Brock and Waterloo 6-1. In the final day of competition, U of T dropped a 7-0 decision to the eventual champion Queen's Gaels, who went undefeated the entire weekend, and shutout Guelph 7-0.
