The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team defeated the Guelph Gryphons 1-0 and Waterloo Warriors 6-1 on Sunday, September 23 in Guelph, Ont.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â Emily Ziraldo scored the lone goal in the 12th minute in Toronto's 1-0 win over the Gryphons. Elizabeth O'Hara earned the shut out in net for the Blues.
Hilary Ziraldo, Rachel Spouge and Riana Vumbaca all scored in the first 22 minutes of the second game of the day. Vumbaca's goal in the 22nd minute marked her first career tally in the Blue and White. Waterloo got on the board in the 26th minute, but Vumbaca scored again and Emily Ziraldo added two more to round out the win. O'Hara played the first 55 minutes of the match, with veteran Sara Fredo closing it out between the pipes.
UP NEXT: The Blues travel to Kingston, Ont., to take on the York Lions (10:45 a.m.) and Queen's Gaels (2:15 p.m.) next Saturday, September 29.
