The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team's 2017-18 season came to an end following a 70-53 OUA playoff loss to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Wednesday, February 21, in Ottawa, Ont.
The Blues six-game winning streak was snapped in the nation's capital and the biggest reason was their inability to get anything going offensively. They shot just 23.8 percent from the field, compared the Gee-Gees 41.7%.
Fifth-year guard Rahshida Atkinson recorded a team-high 12 points in her final game in the Blue and White, while fellow graduating player Dieadre Edwards put up nine points, three rebounds and three steals. Emily Piccini chipped in with eight points, four rebounds and four steals in her last contest with Toronto.
U of T's Sarah Bennett snagged eight points, nine rebounds and two blocks in the losing effort. Â
Brigitte Lefebvre-Ok registered a game-high 17 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Angela Ribarich and Jennifer Crowe tallied 12 and 11 points, respectfully.
