The University of Toronto Varsity Blues travel to Ottawa to take on the Gee-Gees in OUA women's basketball playoff action on Wednesday, February 21 at 7 p.m.
The game will be streamed live on OUA.tv.
The Blues are riding a six-game winning streak and finished the season with an 11-12 record in sixth place in the OUA East division, while the Gee-Gees finished third with a 15-8 record.
The two teams split the season series as the Blues dropped a 61-44 decision at Ottawa on Jan. 5, before notching a thrilling come-from-behind 62-53 victory at home on Jan. 27. They last met in the post season in the 2009 OUA semifinals, when Ottawa came away with a 68-55 victory.
Third-year guard Keyira Parkes led the Blues and ranked fifth in the OUA, averaging 16.8 points per game throughout the regular season. Fifth-year veteran Rahshida Atkinson averaged 12.8 points per contest through 23 games, while Sarah Bennett led the squad with six rebounds per game.
Second-year guard Amelie Hachey and rookie forward Brigitte Lefebvre-Okankwu have led the Gee-Gees, averaging 10.6 and 12.3 points per game, respectively. For the Blues to be successful, they will have to shut down Lefebvre-Okankwu, who put up 29 points in Ottawa's win over Toronto, and was held to only 10 points in U of T's victory over the Gee-Gees.
Should the Blues beat the Gee-Gees, they would advance to the OUA quarter-finals and face the Queen's Gaels on Saturday, February 24.
