Hilary Ziraldo scored both goals but the University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to the OUA defending champion York Lions on Wednesday night (Oct. 3) at Back Campus Fields.
HOW IT HAPPENED: York's Jaslan Stirling opened the scoring two minutes into the contest, but Ziraldo answered back five minutes later to even it back up. Stirling added her second of the game in the 18th minute and Claire Church scored off a penalty corner to give the Lions a 3-1 lead at halftime. Stirling completed the hat trick in the 54th minute and Ziraldo notched her second of the game in the 60th minute. That was all the Blues could muster though as time expired before they could solve Lions netminder Alycia Gray again.
UP NEXT: The Blues host the Waterloo Warriors and Western Mustangs next Saturday, October 13 at Back Campus Fields.
