BLUES SWEEP WARRIORS AND MUSTANGS AT HOME

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team took down the Waterloo Warriors 3-1 and the Western Mustangs 5-0 on Saturday, October 13 at Back Campus Fields.

HOW IT HAPPENED: After dominating possession for most of the opening half, Emily Ziraldo scored the first goal in the 34th minute on a penalty stroke. The Warriors evened the contest up just a minute later to head into halftime tied at ones. In the second half, U of T separated themselves with an Isabella Watson marker off a penalty corner in the 54th minute, followed up by Rachel Spouge 10 minutes later.

The Blues continued the offensive trend later in the day against Western. Riana Vumbaca and Ziraldo started things off scoring in the first 23 minutes of the game. In the second half, Nicole Godman, Parneet Natt and Jaden Kozelji scored in a 10 minute span starting at the 44th minute. Natt's marker was the first goal of her OUA career.

The two victory pushed the women ahead of the York Lions for first in the OUA with a 9-1-1 record.

UP NEXT: The Blues host their final game of regular season on Sunday, October 13 against the Guelph Gryphons at Back Campus Fields. It set to start at 1:00 p.m.
