The Toronto Varsity Blues dropped their first game of 2018, 61-44 to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on January 5 at Montpetit Hall.

The Blues record drops to 4-7 on the campaign.

Down by 17 heading into the third, Toronto's offence exploded for 18 points, two more than the total they posted in the entire first half.

In the fourth quarter, Toronto came as close as nine points to Ottawa, but failed to get any closer.

Freshmen Christine Jurcau came off the bench to score a team-high 10 points for Toronto. She was only two points shy of her career-high.

The Varsity Blues women's basketball team continues their road trip in Ottawa on January 6 against the undefeated Carleton Ravens. Tip off happens at 6:00 p.m., at the Ravens Nest.
