U OF T SUFFERS TOUGH ROAD LOSS TO LAURENTIAN

Box Score The No. 9 University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team suffered just their second loss of the season, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Laurentian Voyageurs on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 15) in Sudbury, Ont.

Despite the loss, the Blues remain in second place in the OUA East with an 8-2-4 (W-L-D) record. The Voyageurs improve to 7-6-1 and third in the East.

With both teams deadlocked through the opening 30 minutes, the Voyageurs were first on the board with a goal from Jacob Gramegna in the 39th.

U of T would not be behind for long, as first-year midfielder Marko Mandekic evened the score right before halftime.

However, in the 59th minute Gramegna once again made an impact on the game setting up the eventual game-winner from Voyageur Liam Ezzard.

Varsity Blues goalkeeper Mark Rogal made three saves, while his Laurentian counterpart Connor Vande Weghe posted an identical mark.

The Varsity Blues will end their season with back-to-back games at home in Varsity Stadium versus the RMC Paladins (Oct. 20) and Queen's Gaels (Oct. 21). Both games will be played under the lights with kick off versus RMC is scheduled for 8:15 p.m., and versus the Gaels 8:30 p.m.
