FIELD HOCKEY SHUTS OUT MARTLETS

Four different players scored as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team topped the McGill Martlets 4-0 on Sunday, Septmber 25 at Back Campus Fields.
 
With the win, the Blues are now 4-1 and in second place in the OUA standings.
 
2014 CIS all-Canadian Alison Lee opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a goal off a corner opportunity.
 
First-year defender Emily Ziraldo notched her first goal as a Varsity Blue, wiring a shot over the McGill goalie's head to put the Blues up 2-0 in the 25th minute.
 

 
Veteran forward Megan Johansen padded Toronto's lead just four minutes later, scoring on another corner chance, and the Blue were up 3-0 at the half.
 
Oakville, Ont., native Nicole Spring rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 54th minute, while Sara Fredo earned the win in net for the Blues.
 
The Blues are back in action this afternoon when they take on the Queen's Gaels at 4 p.m.
