Fifth-year defender Alison Lee scored three goals in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team to a 5-1 victory over the Queen's Gaels on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 25) at Back Campus Fields.

With the win, the Blues improve to 5-1 and remain in second place in the OUA standings.

Queen's opened the scoring with a goal off the stick of Sophie Kinley in the 25th minute; however Lee took over from there. The 2014 CIS all-Canadian scored off a corner in the 35th minute and the two teams were deadlocked at the half.

Lee notched the eventual game-winner, wiring a penalty stroke into the top corner of the net in the 40th minute. The Mississauga, Ont., native added her third goal of the game off another corner opportunity in the 57th minute.

Lee then set up fellow co-captain Lauren Sudac for a beautiful goal in the 62nd minute. Fellow veteran forward Nicole Spring rounded out the scoring in the 69th minute off a nice pass from Morgan Sleeth.

Elizabeth O'Hara earned the victory in net.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, October 1 when they travel to Kingston, Ont., to take on the McGill Martlets. Game time is set for 10:45 a.m.
