BLUES LOOK TO DEFEND OUA TITLE ON HOME COURT

The No. 2 nationally ranked and undefeated University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team plays host to the OUA Final Four this weekend, March 4-5, at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

The host Blues take on the No. 7 McMaster Marauders in Friday's first semifinal at 6 p.m., with the West-leading Western Mustangs battling the Ryerson Rams in the second semifinal, set for 8 p.m.

The winners of each semifinal will battle for the provincial title and the OUA's lone berth to the CIS championship on Saturday night at 8 p.m., with the bronze medal game to precede it at 6 p.m.

Advance tickets are on sale here. All four games will also be streamed live on OUA.tv

The Varsity Blues finished the 2015-16 regular season with a perfect 19-0 record, having dropped a program-low three sets all year. The Blues booked their ticket to the Final Four with a dominant 3-0 quarter-final victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees last Saturday.

Toronto will be vying for their 10th OUA banner in program history and first back-to-back titles since 2002-04.

To say the Blues are highlighted by their depth would be an understatement. Sure, the OUA defending champions boast statistical leaders left, right, and middle (pun intended), but many players have come off the bench in every set to contribute to U of T's perfect season.

First-year right side hitter Alina Dormann has taken the OUA by storm. The rookie from Ottawa ranked second in the province, averaging 4.1 points per set this season. Toronto's offence was also highlighted by left side hitters Caleigh Cruickshank and Anna Feore, as well as middles Bojana Radan and Tessa Davis.

Fourth-year setter Madelyn Mandryk has once again established herself as one of the top setters in the country. The Lockport, Man., native led the province and ranked third in the CIS with 9.80 assists and ranked second on the Blues with 2.85 digs per set.

Fifth-year libero Denise Wooding has once again led U of T defensively, averaging 4.24 digs per set.
