Mallia has become a consistent presence on the sideline with the Canadian women's national team in recent years, serving as a senior assistant coach since 2021. On the sideline he has aided as an assistant in a bronze medal performance at the Pan Am Cup in 2018 and in his current position with the teams best performance at a world championship in 2022.

Mallia first joined the Blues as a full-time assistant coach in 2014, helping U of T to four OUA provincial banners (2015, 2016, 2019, 2020) and the U SPORTS national title during the 2015-16 campaign. He has currently been on a leave from the Varsity Blues program since the beginning of the 2025-26 season.

Along with Mallia, University of Toronto saw further representation on the Canadian women's national team staff as Sandy Heming, Head Physical Therapist at the David L. MacIntosh Sport Medicine Clinic, was also named to the roster as Team Canada physiotherapist.
