Announced on Wednesday (Mar. 11) night ahead of the start of the 2026 U SPORTS Women's Volleyball National Championship, University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball setter Marina Gustke was named a U SPORTS all-rookie.
Gustke receives the honour after also being named OUA rookie of the year and an OUA all-rookie just last week.Â
In her debut season wearing the Blue and White, Gustke immediately stepped into a pivotal role in orchestrating the U of T attack. Appearing in all 20 regular season matches, the Psychology major from Montreal would finish third in the province in total assists tallying 576 across 69 sets played. This was highlighted by a season-high 40 assists in a home court victory over TMU in mid-January. Her consistency would see her tally 30 or more assists in 10 matches across the 2025-26 campaign. Her 8.35 assists per set ranked sixth best in the OUA. She also tallied 135 total digs and 10 total blocks, defensively.
Gustke becomes the second Varsity Blue to receive U SPORTS all-rookie honours over the past three seasons. She also became the 11th Blue to receive OUA Rookie of the Year honours since 1992, and continues a streak of 10 straight seasons with a U of T women's volleyball player being recognized as an OUA all-rookie.
