BLUES BLANK RAVENS, SECURE FIRST ROUND BYE

Box Score The No. 7 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team defeated the Carleton Ravens 1-0 to earn a first-round playoff bye on Saturday October 22 at Varsity Stadium.

The win improves the Blues 12-2-2 as they clinch second place in the OUA East division.

In the 13th minute Carleton goalie David Monk got a red card, giving the Blues a free kick just outside the box, but the shot taken by captain Lukas MacNaughton was stopped by the substitute goalie Jared Maloney.

Toronto's sophomore striker Jack Wadden had a great chance about halfway through the first to score a goal off a header, but just went over the net.

It wasn't until the 30th minute that Blues sophomore Harry Michelis scored the only goal of the contest to give the Blues a victory over the Ravens.

U of T goalkeeper Mark Rogal posted three saves in his 10th clean sheet victory of the season.

The Blue and White await Wednesday's first round playoff results to determine who they host in OUA quarter-final action on Sunday afternoon.
