Box Score Fifth-year defender Jason Cordeiro scored two goals in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over the RMC Paladins on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 20) at Varsity Centre.
With the win, the Blues improve to 5-2-1 and remain in second place in the OUA East division.
Cordeiro opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the match. The Burnaby, B.C., native received a nice through ball from Hugo Vieira and running full tilt, beat an RMC defender and goalkeeper.
Team captain Lukas MacNaughton extended Toronto's lead six minutes later, making no mistake on a penalty kick opportunity. The Blues held the 2-0 advantage at the half.
Cordeiro notched his second of the day in the 69th minute, receiving a nice cross from Russell Rodrigues before finding the back of the net.
The Varsity Blues return to action next Sunday, September 27 when they host the Carleton Ravens at Varsity Centre. Game time is set for 3:15 p.m.
