The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's rugby team fell 80-0 to the York Lions Saturday (Sept. 19) night at Varsity Centre.
The Lions pressured U of T early and often but the Varsity Blues stood tall protecting their goal line for the first 10 minutes of the contest. However, at the 14 minute mark the Lions broke through and proceeded to control the remainder of the game.
First-year standout Jordyn Orlando (Burlington, Ont.) once again delivered a solid performance dealing out crowd pleasing hits along with several strong runs.
Veteran Olivia Roberge (Ajax, Ont.) also showcased her skill carrying defenders on quick runs inside while directing her team in the demanding effort.
The Varsity Blues will have a week to regroup before traveling to Kingston, Ontario on Saturday, September 26 to faceoff with the Queen's Gaels at 7 p.m.
