Box Score Photo GalleryThe University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team dropped an 86-69 decision to the No. 8 Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday night (Feb. 6) at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
With the loss, the Blues drop to 7-7 but remain in third place in the OUA East division. The Thunderwolves improve to 12-3 with their eighth consecutive victory keep their first-place standing in the Central division.
CIS leading scorer Jylisa Williams of the Thunderwolves led all players with an OUA single-game record 50 points, bettering Brock's Candi Lohr's record of 49 points set in the 1982-83 season. Williams went 18-of-28 from the floor and was 14-of-17 from the free throw line, while adding eight rebounds and five assists in the win.
Fifth-year U of T guard Jill Stratton tallied a team-high 21 points and nine rebounds, while adding four assists on the night. Sophomore guard Rahshida Atkinson tallied 13 points and five rebounds, while Abena Addo added nine points and six boards in the loss.
The Varsity Blues return to the court tomorrow as they host the Guelph Gryphons at Goldring Centre. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
