The University of Toronto Varsity Blues badminton team entered 13 athletes to compete in the IUCC KW tournament, the fifth and final circuit event of the year, on Saturday February 7  in Kitchener, Ont.

In the men's singles category both Allen Chee and Guanqiu Liu played up to their rankings (both seeded at No.2) and reached the semifinals.
 
The Varsity Blues fielded only three women in the women's singles event.  All three rookies after losing their first match of the event, were relegated to the B flight where Shi Yi Lu finished third, Teresa Dan finished fifth and Alexandra Lloyd finishing ninth in that flight.
 
In men's doubles action, the Varsity Blues took the event with Allen Chee and Guanqiu Liu recording the victory in a field of 18 teams, and in the finals defeated the No.1 seeded Kirk Hansen and Alex Fown of Ryerson, 21-17, 21-19.
 
Teresa Dan and Jennifer Huynh were the sole team to advance into the main event of women's doubles with a 21-15, 21-19 victory against McMaster's Dai and Zhao but unfortunately lost in their final attempt.

This Varsity Blues next formal competition is the OUA championship in March at Ryerson University.
