Box Score The No. 5 University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team kept their unbeaten streak alive with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-11) victory over the Brock Badgers on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 14) at Goldring Centre.
With the win, the Blues improve to 5-0 and remain atop the OUA East division, while the Badgers drop to 1-6 and are in seventh place in the West.
Rookie right side hitter Alina Dormann continues to shine, leading all players with 13 points in the win. The Ottawa native notched 10 kills, two blocks, one ace and added six digs on the day.
Sophomore left side Anna Feore, who was named U of T's female athlete of the week last week, recorded seven kills and two blocks, while third-year middle Tessa Davis had five blocks, three kills and four digs.
Veterans Bojana Radan and Caleigh Cruickshank each notched seven points, while Erin Jacobs and Madelyn Mandryk split setting duties with 14 and 21 assists, respectively, in the win.
Both teams went back and forth in the first set but Toronto inched away and were up 16-11 at the technical time out. It was all U of T from there as they ended the set on a 9-5 run and a final kill from Anna Feore gave the home team a 25-16 win.
The Badgers came alive at the beginning of the second with a couple of serving aces from Alanna Norris giving Brock an early 10-8 advantage. U of T rallied back with a 8-2 streak and were up 16-12 at the break. Another long 9-4 run and a final kill from Radan put Toronto up 2-0, 25-16.
The third set was all U of T, as they built an early 9-2 advantage and led 16-7 at the technical break. Davis ended the match with a kill as Toronto took it 25-11.
Norris led the Badgers with six kills and 17 digs, while Karlinna O-Leary notched a game-high 17 digs in the loss.
The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host the Ottawa Gee-Gees at Goldring Centre. Opening serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
