VETERANS LEAD THE WAY AS BLUES WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON IN KINGSTON

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team defeated the York Lions 5-0 and Western Mustangs 12-2 on Saturday, October 24 in Kingston, Ont.

With the wins, the Blues end the season 11-1 and await the final games of the OUA schedule tomorrow to determine final seeding for playoffs.  

Toronto 5, York 0

Fifth-year veterans Tegan Stairs and Amanda Woodcroft each scored twice, with fellow senior Ally Evanyshyn adding a single tally in the win.

Stairs and Evanyshyn scored in the 2nd and 7th minutes, respectively, and Toronto took that 2-0 lead into halftime. Stairs notched her second of the game in the 52nd minute and Woodcorft added two more in the 63rd and 68th minutes to round out the win.

Toronto 12, Western 2

Ally Evanyshyn scored three goals, including two in the 63rd minute to lead Toronto to victory. Megan Johansen, Tegan and Emma Stairs scored two apiece, while Anna McNeil, Nicole Godman and Amanda Woodcroft each added a single tally in the victory.
