Box Score Two first-half goals led the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks on Wednesday, October 21 at Varsity Centre.
With the win, the Blues improve to 10-3-2 and remain in second place in the OUA East division.Â
The Blues opened the scoring in the 4th minute when Devon Bowyer connected a nice cross with rookie Jack Wadden, who slotted it into the bottom right corner of the net.
Toronto took a two-goal lead in the 22nd minute when Russell Rodrigues received a nice pass from Nirun Sivananthan and made a wide-angled shot into the bottom left corner of the net.Â
U of T was up 2-0 at the half.
The Ridgebacks brought the game within one with a goal off a Fabio Campoll free kick in the 66th minute, but the Blues stood tall to come away with the victory.
Goalkeeper Rab Bruce-Lockhart posted three saves in the win.Â
The Varsity Blues wrap up the regular season on the road as they travel to take on the Ryerson Rams this Saturday, October 4.Â
