The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's rugby team fell 45-0 to the Trent Excalibur on Friday, October 9 in Peterborough, Ont.
The Blues conclude their 2015 regular season with an 0-5 record and just miss the playoffs.
"My focus is on the development of the program and players," said Varsity Blues head coach Gareth Williams. "This year we had almost double the number of students register for women's rugby so we can see some very positive growth. For each game we had between six and eight first-years starting - key names include Monika Hirsch, Madison Sforza, Gillian Lafrance and Jordyn Orlando who all promise to be a huge part of development moving forward. We will only graduate two players - Remi Long and Olivia Roberge - who will be sorely missed but have set the benchmark on and off the field for women's rugby varsity athletes moving forward."
