Box Score Photo GalleryUniversity of Toronto men's soccer coach Anthony Capotosto earned his 100th career win as the Varsity Blues defeated the RMC Paladins 3-0 on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 20) at Varsity Centre.
With the win, the Blues improve to 4-2-1 and remain in fourth place in the OUA East. Capotosto has notched 100 career wins in his eight years as men's head coach and two seasons (2011, 2013) as doubling as women's bench boss.
Toronto opened the scoring in the 17th minute as Nirun Sivananthan sent a beautiful cross to Russell Rodrigues, who one-timed it into the back of the net.
Blues leading scorer Kilian Elkinson put the home team up by two in the 32nd minute, as he knocked in a loose ball in front of the net.
Team captain Mario Kovacevic added to Toronto's lead right before the half, capitalizing on an RMC miscue. The Blues led 3-0 at the midway point of the match.
Blues goalkeeper Mark Rogal posted two saves in the shutout victory.
Toronto returns to action tomorrow afternoon as they host the Queen's Gaels at Varsity Centre. Game time is set for 3:15 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public and the game will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.
