The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's squash team continued their winning ways, earning the Jester's League title this past weekend (March 7-9) at the National Squash Academy.
The championship marks their third title of the 2013-14 season, after winning the Black Knight team trophy in October and the OUA championship, for the first time since 2003, last month.
The Blues dominated the weekend, defeating the Western Mustangs 6-1 in semi-final action, before topping the Waterloo Warriors, also 6-1, to claim their first Jester's league title in team history.
Kathryn Milligan led the team in the No. 1 position and defeated the Western's Anna Lailey 3-1 but could not find an answer to the OUA gold medallist Natasha Seth of the Warriors and went down 3-0 despite a brave performance.
All the other matches in both the semifinals and finals were quite straight forward with the exception of Christina Chow's 3-2 win. Mabel Low, playing in her last Varsity Blues championship, reversed previous losses to Western's Lauren Mahfoud when she came out on top, 3-2. Low finished her Blues squash career with a tournament 2-0 record.
The Blues have played 117 individual matches in 2013-14, and hold an incredible 102-15 record. Jen Klein ends the season with a perfect 16-0 record, while Natalie Londono and Evelyn Moorhouse went 15-1. Kathryn Milligan went 13-1 in 2013-14.
