STRATTON HITS CAREER MARK IN WIN OVER VOYAGEURS

Box Score Fourth-year guard Jill Stratton notched a career-high 26 points in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team to a dominant 71-56 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday, February 7 in Sudbury, Ont.

With the win, the Blues improve to 10-9 and remain in fourth place in the OUA East standings.

Stratton was 8-of-13 from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line, while adding four rebounds, two assists and one steal on the night. The 26-point performance lifted the Etobicoke, Ont., native past the 1,000 career point mark (regular season & playoffs) in the victory. Stratton has recorded 1,018 points in 86 games as a Varsity Blue.

Veteran forward Liane Bailey of Montreal contributed 17 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Rachael Sider had 12 points in the win.

Emma Decloe led the Voyageurs with 14 points, while Adrienne Moreau and Devenae Bryce had 12 and 13 points, respectively, in the loss.

The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night as they look to clinch their fourth-place standing versus the Algoma Thunderbirds in Sault Ste. Marie. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
