The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team defeated the York Lions 67-57 in their final regular season game on Saturday night (Feb. 15) at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
With the win, the Blues finish the season with a 12-10 record in fourth place in the OUA East, and will host the fifth-seeded Ryerson Rams in OUA playoff action on Wednesday, February 19 at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale

Fifth-year forward Alicia Van Kampen led all players with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Rachael Sider added 11 points, seven boards and five assists, while Liane Bailey had 11 points and six boards in the win.
The Blues got out to a 7-4 lead and Van Kampen notched seven straight points to give the Blues an 18-12 lead after the first quarter. U of T blew the game open, going on a 15-3 run in the first half of the second and led 37-23 at halftime.
The third quarter saw Toronto lead by as many as 20 points and the Blues gained a 52-35 advantage heading into the final frame. A Bailey three-pointer saw the Blues take a 21-point lead midway through the fourth, but the Lions battled back to bring it within seven in the final minute of play. U of T held off the York drive and came away with the 10-point win.Â
Both Nadia Qahwash and Emma Thompson led the Lions with 12 points.

The Varsity Blues honoured graduating players Liane Bailey, Vanessa Brathwaite, Kristy Chute, Rachael Sider and Alicia Van Kampen in a special post-game ceremony.Â
