OUA CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS PREVIEW

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's and women's curling teams are set to compete at the 2014 OUA championships, February 13-16, hosted by the Windsor Lancers at the Guelph Curling Club.

U of T fell just shy of the playoffs at last season's championships and are looking for their first title since 2001, when both U of T's men and women took home the OUA banner.

The Blues men have last season's team back at it for this year's championship. Skip Evan Lily will once again be joined by second Geoffrey Elliott, vice Richard Seto and lead Scott Eckford.

Toronto began the season on a winning note, after they took home first place at the 2014 Brock Curling Invitational Bonspiel in St Catharines, Ont., on January 24-26.

Skip Caitlyn Elliot returns for her third season with the Blues women's team along with vice Nicole Seto.

The Blues women finished second at the Brock Invitational, falling only to the Laurier Golden Hawks in the final. U of T will look to improve on last year's 2-4 record.

Western's Caitlin Romain and Jake Walker of the Waterloo Warriors will be skipping the teams to beat as the OUA curling community descends upon Guelph this week. Romain skipped the Mustangs to the women's gold medal in 2013, while Walker and the Warriors, have won two straight titles and are on a quest for a third.
