BLUES ADVANCE TO OUA FINAL WITH SHUT OUT OVER YORK

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team defeated the York Lions 5-0 in OUA semi-final action on Saturday, October 25 at Cassie Campbell Community Centre in Brampton, Ont.

With the win, the Blues advance to tomorrow's OUA gold-medal match where they will take on the winner of Guelph/Queen's for the provincial title. Game time is set for 12 p.m.

The winner of today's Guelph/Queen's semifinal will also join the Blues on the national stage as U of T hosts the 2014 CIS championship next week, Oct. 30-Nov. 2, at Back Campus Fields.

Second-year forward Anna McNeil of Sutton, Ont., opened the scoring three minutes into the game and 2014 OUA all-star and CIS leading scorer Alison Lee (Mississauga) put the Blues up by two off a stroke just three minutes later.

McNeil and Lee each tallied another as Toronto took a 4-0 lead into the half.

Gabriella Permell rounded out the scoring, adding a fifth goal off a penalty corner with six minute remaining in the game.
