BLUES TO BATTLE FOR OUA BANNER IN BRAMPTON

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team looks to continue their undefeated season at the 2014 OUA championship this weekend (Oct. 24-26) at Cassie Campbell Community Centre in Brampton.

The Blues finished the regular season with a perfect 12-0-0 record and, along with the second-place and defending champion Guelph Gryphons, earn a bye into Saturday's semifinals. Toronto topped the CIS with 55 goals for, while leading the OUA with just eight goals against.

U of T will play the winner of Friday's OUA quarter-final between the fourth-place Waterloo Warriors and fifth-place York Lions on Saturday at 12 p.m.

The Blues look to take back the banner after falling to the Warriors in semi-final action last season. Toronto has won seven of the past 11 and a league-leading 29 provincial championship titles since 1971.

As hosts of the CIS championship, October 30-November 2, Toronto has already secured a spot on the national stage.  They will be joined by the CIS defending champion UBC Thunderbirds and Victoria Vikes, as well as the top seed in the OUA as decided this weekend.
