BIG WEEKEND FOR BLUES SOCCER AT VARSITY CENTRE

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's and women's soccer teams host three games at Varsity Centre this weekend (Oct. 4-5).

U of T hosts the Carleton Ravens on Saturday, October 4, with the women slated to start at 1 p.m. and the men to follow at 3:15 p.m. Toronto's women will then face the No. 2 Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games are free and open to the public and will be streamed live on OUA.tv.

Toronto's men have won five straight games and sit in second place in the OUA East division with a 7-2-1 record. The Carleton Ravens are right behind them, tied for third with Queen's, with a 6-2-3 standing.

Fifth-year striker Kilian Elkinson leads the OUA with 11 goals in 10 games. The Toronto native has scored in all but two games this year. A quartet of Blues follow him in the team scoring race. Russell Rodrigues, Nirun Sivananthan, Nikolay Saveliev and Mario Kovacevic have all tallied three goals so far this season.

The Ravens are led by third-midfielder David Dahir and second-year striker Marco Pozzi, who have scored four goals in 11 games.

The Blues women are 5-3-1 and in fifth place in the OUA East division. The Carleton Ravens are tied for third with a 5-2-3 record, while the Ottawa Gee-Gees sit atop the OUA with a 9-1-0 record.

Second-year standout Claudia Piazza leads the Blues with four goals, while Brenda Murillo and Zoe Carty have each tallied two so far this year.

Ottawa midfielder Julie Francki leads the OUA East with nine goals in as many games, while Sarah Royer tops the Ravens with five goals.
