BLUES SOCCER LOOKS TO BOUNCE BACK

The Varsity Blues men's and women's soccer teams play host to the Nipissing Lakers and the Laurentian Voyageurs this weekend (Sept. 7-8) at Varsity Centre.

The Blues face the Lakers on Saturday, while Sunday will see U of T take on the Lady Vees and Voyageurs. The women start the action at 12 p.m., with the men to follow at 2:15 p.m. on both days.

All four games will be streamed live on GoBlues.tv.

Toronto's women (0-2) are in search of their first win of the season after falling to the Carleton Ravens and the Ottawa Gee-Gees in week one of competition.  Blues team captain and fourth-year striker Aisha Lewis (Mississauga, Ont.) was the squad's lone goal scorer, with one tally against the Gee-Gees.

Both the Lakers (1-0) and Lady Vees (1-0) are coming off season-opening wins against Trent and square off against each other on Tuesday night.

U of T's men (0-1) are also looking for their first win of 2013. The Blues were edged 1-0 in their home opener by the Carleton Ravens last Saturday.

The Lakers and Voyageurs sit tied for second place in the OUA men's standings after the first weekend of play, both pocketing wins against Trent. Last year the Blues ended the Lakers season in the OUA playoffs with a 1-0 win on penalty kicks (4-3).

The University of Toronto is the proud host of the 2013 CIS Women's Soccer Championship, November 7-10, at Varsity Centre.
