The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team shut out the McGill Martlets 6-0 on Sunday, September 22 at Varsity Centre.

With the win, the Blues improve to 5-0-0 and sit atop the OUA standings.

Fourth-year forward Ally Evanyshyn  of Burlington, Ont., led U of T with three goals, while fellow veteran Tegan Stairs (Kitchener) added two markers.  Rookie forward Anna McNeil notched her first career goal in the win.

Evanyshyn opened the scoring, tallying the eventual game-winner in the 15th minute of the match. Stairs scored 10 minutes later and McNeil added one just before the half to give the Blues a 3-0 lead at the midway point of the game.

Evanyshyn scored in the 45th and 61st minutes and Stairs ended the game with a booming shot to find the back of the net and round out the 6-0 win.

Katy-Jo Williams earned the shut out victory.

The Varsity Blues are back in action next Saturday, September 28 as they head to Guelph, Ont., to take on their rival Gryphons. Game time is set for 10:30 a.m.
