BLUES COME UP SHORT IN CLOSE BATTLE WITH BADGERS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's rugby team dropped a narrow 7-5 decision to the Brock Badgers on Saturday, September 14 at Brock Rugby Field in St. Catharines, Ont.

With the loss, the Blues drop to 0-2 on the season, while the Badgers improve to 1-0 after their first match of the season was cancelled.

The Badgers opened the scoring when Lauren Kniewasser scored a try in the 28th minute. Emily Voisin successfully converted and the home team held a 7-0 lead at half.
 
Thanh Phung notched U of T's first try of the season in the 70th minute, but the Blues could not convert and dropped the two-point decision.
 
The Varsity Blues will look to bounce back next Saturday, September 21 as they host the McMaster Marauders at Varsity Centre. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
