Box Score A dismal fourth quarter resulted in a Varsity Blues 78-63 loss to the Ryerson Rams in OUA women’s basketball action on Friday night (Feb. 15) at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
Down one (55-54) heading into the fourth quarter, Ryerson came out huge in the final frame, outscoring the Blues 24-8 to earn the lopsided win.
Third-year guard Rachael Sider of New Westminster, B.C., led the Blues with 20 points and seven boards. Julie Longauer added 13 points, while Etobicoke, Ont., native Jill Stratton had nine points and nine boards in the loss.
Ryerson’s Kelsey Wright notched a career-high 29 points, going 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
Toronto (10-9) has clinched third place, while the win for Ryerson moves them to 7-12, tied with the Queen's Gaels for fourth. The Blues will host the York Lions in an OUA East quarter-final on Wednesday, February 20 at 7 p.m.
The Blues look for revenge tomorrow night as they complete the home-and-home at Mattamy Athletic Centre at 6 p.m.
