The University of Toronto Varsity Blues soccer teams are returning home this weekend (Oct. 12-13), to face the Queen's Gaels and RMC Paladins at Varsity Centre.
The Blues start the action against the Gaels on Saturday, and both games will be streamed live via GoBlues.tv. Â Sunday will see U of T face off with RMC. The women begin at 1p.m with the men to follow at 3.15p.m. on both days.
Toronto's women currently sit in second place in the OUA East division with an 8-2-2 record and are riding a 10-game undefeated streak. The Blues cracked the CIS Top 10 this week, taking the No. 10 spot.
U of T has not lost a game since a 3-1 loss to the No. 1 Gee-Gee's on opening weekend. First-year striker Nicki Parkes (Sarnia, Ont.) and co-captain Aisha Lewis (Mississauga, Ont.) are leading the Blues in scoring and rank 10th on the OUA leader board with five goals apiece.
Third-year goalkeeper Sara Petrucci (Bolton) has allowed only eight goals in 12 games and has recorded eight shut outs so far this season.
The Gaels (6-2-3) are coming off a close loss against the Gee-Gees this past weekend, and will face the Carleton Ravens on Wednesday night before heading to Varsity Centre.
The Blues men (2-4-3) will look to build from their scoreless draw against the Laurentian Voyageurs last Sunday. U of T currently sits in fifth place in the OUA East division.
Fourth-year striker and co-captain Mario Kovacevic, (Woodbridge, Ont.) leads the Blues in scoring with five goals. Kovacevic has been the Blues lone goal scorer in their past three games.
The Gaels (5-2-2) sit in third position in the OUA East and will take on the Ravens before meeting the Blues, Saturday. RMC (1-7-1) are still looking for their second win of the season and take on the Ryerson Rams, followed by the Blues.
