Fourth-year striker and co-captain Mario Kovacevic scored in the 73rd minute in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday (Oct. 5) in North Bay, Ont.

With the win, the Blues improve to 2-4-3 and move into fifth place in the OUA East division, while Nipissing drops to 2-6-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, Kovacevic  found the back of the net in the 73rd minute for the games lone goal.

Second-year Blues goalkeeper Rab Bruce-Lockhart made three saves in his first shut out win of the season.

The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow as they take on the Laurentian Voyageurs in Sudbury, Ont. Game time is set for 2:15 p.m.
