The Varsity Blues soccer teams return home this weekend (Sept. 29-30) for vital games versus the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens at Varsity Centre.
Toronto’s women take on the Gee-Gees on Saturday at 1 p.m., before the Blues play host to the Carleton Ravens on Sunday. The women start the action at 1 p.m. with the men to follow at 3:15 p.m.
All three games will be streamed live on SSN Canada via varsityblues.ca.
Toronto’s women (5-1-2) are riding a four-game win streak after edging the Ryerson Rams 2-1 this past Sunday. Rookie striker LaShaunna Harper leads the Blues with five goals, while veteran Jessica Fantozzi has four in eight games this season.
The No. 1 Ottawa women are undefeated with a 7-0-1 record at the midway point of the season. The Gee-Gees lead the CIS in goals for (27) and have not yet allowed a goal in eight games. Second-year striker Pilar Khoury ranks second in the province with seven goals.
Carleton’s women are 4-2-2 and sit three points behind U of T in the OUA East division. The Blues and Ravens played to a 1-1 draw in the season opener on Sept. 1 in Ottawa.
The Blues men dropped to 3-4-0 and are tied for fourth in the East after a narrow loss to the Ryerson Rams on Sunday. U of T will be in tough versus the Ravens, who sit atop the OUA standings with a 6-1-0 record.
Strikers Mario Kovacevic and Jermaine Burrell lead the Blues with three goals apiece, while Carleton’s Andrew Latty leading the OUA with 11 goals in seven games. The No. 10 Ravens came away with a 3-1 win over the Blues on opening week (Sept. 1).
