NO. 5 GAELS GET THE BEST OF BLUES

The Varsity Blues women’s rugby team fell 67-8 to the Queen’s Gaels on Saturday, September 15 at Nixon Field in Kingston, Ont.

The loss drops the Blues to 1-2 on the season, while the Gaels remain perfect at 3-0.

Queen’s scored early and often, building a 22-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of the match. The Gaels continued to surge ahead before standout fullback Karla Telidetzki (Edmonton) got the Blues on the board with a try in the 36th minute.

U of T’s Nicole Baker (Toronto) opened the second half with a drop goal but it was all Gaels after that as the home team amassed 31 more points in the win.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Friday, September 21 as they host the Waterloo Warriors at Varsity Centre. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
