The Carleton Ravens scored three second-half goals as the Varsity Blues men’s soccer team dropped their 2012 season opener, 3-1, on Saturday, September 1 in Ottawa.
It was a tale of two halves as Toronto controlled the play for the first 45 minutes of action. Rookie striker Adrian Dannel of Trinidad & Tobago notched his first career goal in the 5
th minute of the match and U of T carried a 1-0 lead into the half.
The home team picked up the pace in the second half, with sophomore striker Andrew Latty (Ottawa) evening the score in the 67
th minute. The Ravens went ahead just eight minutes later when Christophe Laberge-Perrault headed a Theodore Lopez de Castilla free kick into the Blues net.
Latty added an insurance marker in the 88
th minute to round out the scoring.
The Varsity Blues return to the field next Saturday, September 8 when they host the RMC Paladins in their 2012 home opener at Varsity Centre. The game will be streamed live on SSN Canada, starting at 3:15 p.m.
