NO. 1 LANCERS SPEAR BLUES

Box Score Down early and unable to recover, the Varsity Blues women’s basketball team fell 85-54 to the No. 1 Windsor Lancers on Saturday night (Nov. 24) at St. Denis Centre.
 
The loss moves the Blues (4-2) into a tie with the Carleton Ravens (4-2) for first place in the OUA East.
 
Third-year forward and Montreal native Liane Bailey led the Blues with 12 points, while veteran Amanda Lauzon (Niagara Falls, Ont.) had eight points and a team-high nine boards in the loss.
 
The Blues shot 27% (20-74) from the floor, compared to the Lancers 48% (34-71). Windsor opened the game on a 9-0 run and held a 23-10 lead after the first quarter.
 
The CIS defending champion Lancers held at least a 14-point lead throughout the rest of the game.
 
Korissa Williams led Windsor with 21 points, six boards and four steals. Laura Mullins added 18 points in the win.
 
The Varsity Blues return home next Friday, November 30 when they host the McMaster Marauders at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym. Advance tickets are one sale here. The game will be streamed live, starting at tip off at 6 p.m.
