The Varsity Blues field hockey team defeated the Western Mustangs 5-0 and the York Lions 9-0 on Saturday, October 20 in Kingston, Ont.
The Blues are a perfect 11-0 heading into their final contest versus their rival Guelph Gryphons tomorrow. The game is scheduled for 10:45 a.m.
Five different players scored in the first win of the day. Third-year forward Ally Evanyshyn (Burlington, Ont.) notched the eventual game-winner in the 12
th minute of the match. Tegan Stairs, Justine Branco, Amanda Woodcroft and Kaelan Watson also added single tallies in the win.
Tegan Stairs (Kitchener, Ont.) then led the team with three goals in Toronto’s shut out win over York. Lauren Mansfield had two, while, Emma Stairs, McKenzie Embree, Alex Thicke and Evanyshyn each scored one.
The University of Toronto is the proud host of the 2012 CIS field hockey championship, November 1-4, at Varsity Centre.
