The CIS defending champion Varsity Blues field hockey team defeated the Waterloo Warriors 3-1 on Sunday, September 18 in Guelph, Ont.
 
With the win, the Blues improve to a perfect 3-0 on the season and sit in first place in the OUA.
 
Fifth year midfielder Hannah Tighe of Penticton, B.C., led the Blues with two goals, while fellow veteran Katherine McNeil added a single marker in the win.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action next weekend as they host three games at Varsity Centre.  The Blues take on the Western Mustangs and McGill Martlets on Saturday, before facing the Guelph Gryphons in a repeat of last year’s OUA final on Sunday.
