The Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team fell 3-0 (18-25, 11-25, 17-25) to the Queen’s Gaels on Friday, November 18 in Kingston, Ont.
With the loss, the Blues drop to 6-2 and remain tied with York and Ottawa for first place in the OUA standings. The Gaels improve to 5-2 and are in second place.
“We need to regroup and get ready for our last match before the December break versus York next weekend,” said Varsity Blues head coach Kristine Drakich. “I'm confident we will be able to turn this loss into a good learning experience that will benefit us and make us a stronger team moving forward.”
Sophomore Charlotte Sider of Ottawa tallied a team-high eight kills and added six digs on the night. Vancouver native Malena Rapaport led all players with 24 assists and added 10 digs, while rookie Denise Wooding also had 10 kills in the loss.
Natalie Gray led the Gaels with 11 kills and 13 digs in the win.
The Blues return to the court next Saturday, November 26 when they travel to take on the York Lions. Opening serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
